". . .my dream is that my stories will transport readers to far-off places, into different worlds taking them on wild adventures while introducing them to fascinating characters—an escape of sorts. Making my writer’s dream become my author’s reality."
Kathleen Ricard writes stories rooted in resilience, grief, prairie life, and the enduring strength of ordinary people. Raised in Thompson and now living in southeast Saskatchewan, her work is shaped by northern landscapes, rural communities, and a lifetime of lived experience.
Her debut novel, The Deafening Sound of Sorrow, was released on October 16, 2025, with proceeds supporting the Kerrie Ann Brown Memorial Bursary. The book was named a finalist for the 2026 Maxy Awards. Kathleen is also a contributor to Forty Years of Ink, published in May 2026 by the Estevan Writer’s Group.
After a twenty-seven-year career as a technical writer with the provincial government, Kathleen now focuses full time on storytelling from her small prairie farm, where she and her family raise leaf-cutter bees beneath the Saskatchewan living skies.
